Holiday calendars
Composing national, regional and company calendars, including dates not yet announced.
Calendars compose. Somebody working in the United States observes federal days, their state's days and their company's own days, unioned and de-duplicated by date. A calendar's scope decides which bucket it joins, not which one it beats.
Dates that are not settled yet
Some holidays cannot be computed in advance. UAE Islamic holidays are announced by decree and depend on observation, so a date can be entered as unconfirmed.
Unconfirmed days still count, and still say so
People do not work them, so capacity and leave arithmetic apply them. But anything showing a resulting number marks it as provisional rather than presenting it as settled.
Editing calendars
- Deleting a calendar that holds past dates is refused: absences were costed around those days, and under calendar-day rules they were deducted.
- Two holidays on the same date are refused, because a day off counted twice double-charges an absence.
- A national calendar with no country is rejected — its scope would match nobody.
