Payroll

Under consideration — and if it happens, it will be optional.

Not built yet. Described here so it can be planned around.

Ergira today records what somebody is entitled to and hands payroll an immutable snapshot per legal entity per period. See Payroll handoff for what that contains and how to consume it.

Whether to build it

The HR half already holds almost everything a gross-to-net calculation needs: basic pay separated from allowances, allowance types flagged for which bases they feed, leave split into pay bands, attendance classified into overtime bands, and jurisdiction resolved from where the work is done. Calculation is genuinely close.

Calculation is not the hard part

Filing is. Statutory returns in each government's own format, payment files in local bank formats, tax tables that change every year, year-end documents, and liability when any of it is wrong. Each country is an ongoing commitment rather than a piece of work that finishes.

If it is built

  • It will be optional per legal entity, not per tenant. A group with one entity on internal payroll and another on an external provider is the normal case, not an edge case.
  • It will consume the same snapshot an external provider does, and it will never write back into the HR record. An internal module given privileged access to HR tables would erode exactly the discipline that makes the HR half correct.
  • Filing and money movement are a separate question from calculation, and would be answered separately.
