Administration

Teams

Grouping people for boards, sprints and goals.

A team is a named group of members with a short key. Teams can own boards, sprints and goals, which is how an organisation running one cadence still gives each group its own view of it.

A team is made of members — people with a login. It is not a department: a department is a property of somebody's engagement and belongs to the HR record, where reporting slices by it. The two overlap in most organisations and are deliberately not the same field.

Teams are maintained under Settings → Structure, alongside cost centres. A team pushed from your identity provider through directory provisioning is marked as such and cannot be renamed here — a change would be undone by the next sync, so it is refused rather than silently reverted.

A team cannot be deleted out from under its work

Sprints, boards and goals can belong to one. Deleting a team that still has them attached is refused: the relation would null rather than cascade, so nothing is lost — but a sprint suddenly belonging to nobody vanishes from the team view somebody was running it from.
